K9 Unit
The Hutto Police Department is now taking applications for Police Cadets. HPD is looking for highly qualified, community-oriented individuals who are motivated to make a positive impact in the fast growing and diverse Hutto community we serve.
The Professional Standards unit is responsible for the hiring of all employees within the department, both sworn and civilian positions. In addition to recruiting, this unit is also tasked with providing training that exceeds the basic Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements.
The Hutto Police Department is one of less than 200 law enforcement agencies in Texas that holds a TCOLE contract training provider status.
It is a policy of the City to encourage employee development through formal education in order for an employee to maintain and improve job-related skills or prepare for advancement within the City.
The department has also set aside budget for training courses and seminars to ensure that police officers continue to be well prepared for any on-duty incidents. Law enforcement agencies provide training content that ensures that officers have the knowledge and skill to resolve situations they encounter on duty.
